Suzanne Plezia, P.E., is Managing Director of Engineering for the Port of Long Beach, Calif, promoted to the post in 2025, having served as Chief Harbor Engineer since 2017. Engineering Services comprises six divisions – Program Management, Construction Management, Project Controls, Survey, Engineering Design, and Maintenance. Suzanne leads a team of about 285 managers, engineers, inspectors, surveyors, technicians and support staff who are responsible for development and maintenance of Port infrastructure, which includes an extensive capital program to transition operation to zero emissions and increase efficiency and velocity of goods movement. Suzanne guided the procurement process for the Gerald Desmond Bridge replacement contract in Long Beach and managed construction for the Pier G Container Terminal Replacement project. A Long Beach native, she holds a B.S.degree in civil engineering from the University of California, Irvine.
