Paul Krekorian
Executive Director Office of Major Events

As executive director of the City of Los Angeles’ Office of Major Events, Paul leads all city preparations for hosting mega events, including the 2026 World Cup soccer tournament, 2027 NFL Super Bowl, and the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. He recently completed 15 years of service on the Los Angeles City Council, where he was one of Southern California’s most impactful elected leaders in creating economic opportunity, protecting the environment, fighting gun violence, ensuring fiscal responsibility and restoring integrity in government. Paul chaired the council’s powerful Budget and Finance Committee for over 10 years and led the city to recovery from two fiscal calamities – the Great Recession and the COVID-related economic collapse – while completing 11 balanced budgets and building the strongest reserves in city history.

Paul also served as a board member of LA Metro, the county’s transit system, and Metrolink, Southern California’s regional railroad. He was instrumental in the passage of Measure M, the largest voter-approved U.S. investment in transportation infrastructure. Before his election to the council in 2009, he was assistant majority leader of the California State Assembly, authoring important advances in clean energy, environmental protection and public safety. Before entering government, he had a successful 20-year career as an attorney in the private sector.
